Industrial Capital and Business Models Help Technology Companies Win in Market (August 15, 2017)

People come together because they share the same ideas. Eight years ago, three students jointly founded Beijing Bohuite Environmental Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "BHT Environ"). After eight years of continuous development, BHT Environ has become be a biochemical technology leader in water treatment industry.

BHT Environ is positioned to be a technology-driven company engaged water operations and technology service, focusing on biochemical technology and expanding gradually to broader business, mainly involved in treatment of industrial wastewater, municipal wastewater, industrial park wastewater, rural wastewater, polluted water bodies, and taking water-related ecological agriculture, ecological farming and other fields of circular economy as its target industries.

Pan Jiantong, Chairman of Beijing Bohuite Environmental Technology Co., Ltd.

BHT Environ now has four subsidiaries, namely Beijing Jiarunjie, Guangzhou Bochun, Hainan Bohao and BHT Chengdu, and a R&D center in Jiangsu. It has set foot in a variety of technical fields, including biochemical treatment, sludge disposal, solid-liquid separation, physicochemical treatment, smart water plant and so on, with related patents and knowhow.

Generations of the BioDopp Process

According to Pan Jiantong, Chairman of BHT Environ, the BioDopp process is an efficient biochemical wastewater treatment technology, developed by Chinese and Germany researchers through leveraging advantages from various biochemical processes from expertise in long-time wastewater treatment projects, in combination with indigenous innovations of BHT Environ related to slight mixing and aeration, air lifting, fast sedimentation and synchronous reaction through continuous research and development.

Since adoption of the BioDopp process in China, BHT Environ has localized most equipment through practical use, improvements and innovations made for over 10 year in light of the market demand. In the process, BHT Environ has produced technical products certified by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and the Municipality of Beijing Municipality, and been awarded a large number of invention and utility model patents, conducted demonstration projects in the industrial facilities, municipal works, industrial parks and small towns. Through generations of evolution, now it offers the BioDopp (for most organic wastewater), BioHopp (for treatment of quasi-class 4 surface wastewater) and BioSopp (for industrial wastewater in high concentrations and not readily degradable) series of solutions with development for the BioTopp solutions (for future energy-neutral wastewater plants) underway.

Featuring a small footprint, lowered energy consumption, reduced investment and easy operation and management, the BioDopp process has distinct advantages in treatment of industrial wastewater in high concentrations and not readily degradable, and municipal wastewater.

BHT Environ is Active in Industrial, Municipal and Rural Wastewater Treatment

Industrial pollution control is closely related to industrial links and production processes. Compared with municipal wastewater, industrial wastewater contains components which are more complex and difficult to handle, so environmental protection enterprises with high-end technology and system solutions will gain more advantages.

To address the characteristics of rural wastewater in China, BHT Environ has developed the BioComb integrated systems for distributed biological treatment, featuring energy saving, use of new energy, dummy-proof management, remote monitoring and unattended operation.

According to Pan Jiantong, the system has the advantages of low power consumption, high impact resistance and low sludge yield. It adopts electrolysis removal of phosphorus without mixing and adding chemicals, and requiring no manual operation, suitable for distributed treatment of rural wastewater. The effluent meets the requirements for class 1B or 1A (or A+) defined in GB18918-2002 Pollutant Discharge Standard of Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plants. Models with discharged water quality at the quasi-class 4 surface water may be developed for specific projects as necessary. With the help of EcoComb technology, it is possible to realize industrial circular and three-dimensional aquaculture, with surplus water used for agricultural irrigation and revenue generation, which realizes the circulation of carbon, nitrogen and phosphorus in nature at the lowest cost. By combining the ancient ecological philosophy and modern economic development, BHT Environ works to promote circular economy based on knowledge and engineering practices on biochemical and ecological wastewater treatment and circular aquaculture, to have finalized the process especially suitable for China Beautiful Countryside Initiative through further innovations and engineering.

BHT Environ also offers other technologies, such as BioChar, BioTank and smart water plants. BHT Environ participated in the Hebei Hengshuihu New Area Wastewater Treatment Plant Phase I Project by providing the BioHopp technology. The wastewater treatment plant of the project is responsible for collection and treatment of municipal wastewater of the Hengshui Lake area with a total proposed capacity of 10,000m3/d. The final effluent after treatment section is required to meet the requirement for quasi-class 4 surface water.

Circular Economy in the Eyes of BHT Environ

The most remarkable competitive advantage of BHT Environ’s technology lies in the energy saving and consumption reduction. We have learned that BHT Environ plans to build energy-neutral wastewater treatment plants, to recycle discharged water and energy without waste of resources.

BHT Environ is undertaking projects under contracts of process packages, DBO, EMC, TIO, ROT, etc. At present, BHT Environ is revising its business model for entering deep in operation and mine future values for maximal value of projects. A trend of the environmental protection industry is management entrusted to third parties or with assistance from third parties. Leveraging its local subsidiaries, BHT Environ is to set up regional 4S shops for supporting operations and after-sale service.

Pan Jiantong summarized the development of the Chinese environmental protection industry in 30 years, by referring to the period from 1990 to 2000 as the Cold Weapon Era with slow development in the dark, the period from 2000 to 2010 as the Industrial Revolution Era with rapid development from cultivation, and the period from 2010 to 2020 as the Knowledge Economy Era with rapid development in various opportunities. In the Knowledge Economy Era, development is driven by technology and capital. Those who cherish sharing of ecological future will laugh to the end.
